Welcome to the International Student Center youth hostel. Located in Manhattan, in the beautiful and safe neighborhood of the Upper West Side, 1/2 block from central park and the subway, we serve young people and students (between the ages of 18 and 35) traveling through New York City.

Approximate Travel Times to the International Student Center, from:

JFK Airport (90-120 minutes) by subway;
Newark Airport (1 hour) by bus; 45 minutes by train.
LaGuardia Airport (1 hour) by bus or train;
Port Authority Bus Terminal (15 minutes) by subway;
Grand Central Station (30 minutes) by subway;
Penn Station (20 minutes) by subway.

The International Student Center is located in a brownstone building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. Our address is 38 West 88th Street, between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West Avenue, near the 86th Street Subway station on the B and C subway trains. We do not have a large sign, please look for the number 38 over the door.

To reach us from JFK International Airport:
Take the Airtrain from the airport terminal to the Howard Beach subway station, where you can take the A train towards Manhattan. Change to the C or B train at 59th street (Columbus Circle). Get off at 86th street and exit at the front of the train.

Stop by the Ground Transportation desk and ask about where to catch the Super Shuttle Van, which will drop you off at the door of the International Student Center (38 West 88th Street in Manhattan, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue). Cost: $20/person. Call 1-212-258-3826.

From Newark International Airport:
Take the AirTrain from the terminal to the Newark International Airport Train Station. Take the New Jersey Transit Train to Penn Station). Follow directions from Penn Station (below).
OR
Take the Olympia bus ($13 one-way ticket) from the airport to 42nd Street and Port Authority terminal in Manhattan. From here, take the C train Uptown to 86th street.

From La Guardia International Airport:
You can take the M 60 bus from La Guardia Airport to the last stop, 113th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Then take the M 104 bus going downtown to 88th Street and Broadway. Walk two blocks from Broadway and 88th Street toward Central Park West Avenue (past Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues.)

You can also take a taxi (approximately $30) from La Guardia airport to the International Student Center at 38 West 88th Street in Manhattan, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.

Informations about International Student Center

Welcome to the International Student Center youth hostel. Located in Manhattan, in the beautiful and safe neighborhood of the Upper West Side, 1/2 block from central park and the subway, we serve young people and students (between the ages of 18 and 35) traveling through New York City.

*~* We are a youth hostel! You must be between the ages of 18-35 to make a reservation.*~*

The youth hostel offers 40 beds in dormitory style (bunk beds) accommodation, both single sex and co-ed rooms.

Office Hours: 8am-11pm
Check-In: 3pm-10pm.

If you are arriving after 10pm you will be unable to enter the building and check-in.
If your flight is delayed, please call ahead.

!!! If you do not show up for your reservation, you will be charged for your first night of stay !!!

Check-Out Time:10am

Students, non-students, and US residents (not from NYC) accepted.
Note: a valid passport is needed to check-in.


NOTE: We do not have wi-fi because we want to promote an environment of social interaction and city adventuring!


**Weekly Hostel Events**

Every Tuesday is pizza and game night in the hostel!

Every Thursday is jazz night! Come join us for a swinging night in Greenwich Village at the Fat Cat, one of New York's most popular jazz spots.


Guest Facilities Include . . .

Internet PC from 8am to 11pm $1/10min (please understand that we DO NOT HAVE WIFI); full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridges; lounge with TV/DVD.

Please note that only small backpacks and tote bags are allowed upstairs in the dorm rooms. Suitcases and travel backpacks must be left in the office due to fire safety regulations. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

We offer free linen (sheets/blankets). Guests must bring their own towels.

There is no curfew. You will be given a key ($10 deposit) so you can come and go as you please!

We do close the rooms for cleaning from 11 am-3pm and require all guests to leave their bedrooms.

When making reservations for more than 2 persons, please understand that you may be in different dormitories. We will try our best to accommodate guests traveling together in the same room.

There are no lockers in most bedrooms. Some are located downstairs in the common lounge area. A safe is available for any documents or electronic items you wish to leave in a safe place at the reception.

Cancellation Policies: All cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. Any cancellations made less than 48 hours of the arrival date will be charged for the first night. No shows will be charged first night's rate and the remaining days of their reservation will be canceled. Also, no same day refunds after check-in.

Duration Of Stay:
June through September- there is a maximum stay of 7 nights.
October - May there is a maximum stay of 14 nights.

Advance reservations made for more than 7 nights between June-Sept or 14 nights Oct-May will not be accepted and will be canceled.

There must be 30 calendar days between every maximum length stay.

Payment: credit cards; traveler's checks and cash accepted.

The 10% deposit that is paid is applied per day per person to your reservation.
